Structure and Key Features

The GW4 switch is designed for robustness and reliable outdoor operation, with several notable structural features:

   Basic Structure: The switch is a single-pole unit consisting of a base, two insulating pillars, and a conductive part . The conductive knife is split into two halves, each fixed to the top of a pillar. The contact point is in the middle of the two pillars . For three-phase use, three single-pole units are linked by a connecting rod to operate synchronously .

   Operating Principle: During operation, one insulating pillar and its conductor are rotated approximately 90 degrees horizontally by a manual or motorized operating mechanism. The other pillar and conductor are driven to rotate another 90 degrees in the same direction via a cross-linkage, thus opening or closing the circuit .

   Material and Design Upgrades: Many manufacturers have improved the design to enhance performance and reduce maintenance. Key upgrades include:

    Anti-Corrosion Treatment: Structures are often hot-dip galvanized, and stainless steel is used for rotating parts to prevent rust .

     Conductive System: Use of copper pipe soft connections and "hand-in-hand" self-elastic contact fingers improve current carrying capacity and reliability .

      Maintenance-Free Design: Sealed rotating bases and self-lubricating bushes are employed to prevent grease drying or contamination, keeping the operating torque stable over time .


Normal usage conditions
1. Altitude of 1000-3000m.
2. The ambient temperature shall not be higher than+40 ℃ and not lower than -30 ℃ (not lower than -40 ℃ in high-altitude areas).
3. The wind pressure shall not exceed 700Pa (equivalent to a wind speed of 34m/s).
4. The seismic intensity shall not exceed 8 degrees.
5. The thickness of ice cover shall not exceed 10mm.
6. The installation site should be free of flammable, explosive hazardous materials, chemical corrosion, and severe vibration.
7. Pollution level of post insulators: ordinary type is level 0, and anti fouling type is level I.
8. This series of isolating switches meets the requirements specified in GB1985-89 "AC High Voltage Isolating Switches", IEC129 (1984) "AC Isolating Switches Grounding switches", and IEC694 (1980) "Common Provisions for High Voltage Switchgear and Control Equipment".

   Earthing Options: Available as no earth, single earth, or double earth models . The model suffix indicates this: no suffix for no earth, "D" for single earth, and "DDW" or "ⅡD" for double earth .

   Operating Mechanisms: Manual operating mechanisms are standard, such as the CS11 (for non-earthing) and CS8-6D (for earthing switches) . Motorized operating mechanisms (like the CJ6 series) are also available for remote control .

   Interlocking: Switches with earthing function feature a mechanical interlock between the main knife and the earth knife to prevent incorrect operational sequences .
