Vivid Practice of Smart Energy
The smart energy system, which integrates energy, intelligence, and technology, presents a vivid practical case in the Yongfeng Industrial Park in the northwest of Beijing. Visiting this park leaves the impression that energy conservation and emissions reduction are everywhere! This project contains too much 'wisdom'!
It is the comprehensive smart energy project of China Power Zhongdian Intelligent North Science and Technology Industrial Park under State Power Investment Corporation.
Throughout the entire park, facilities related to smart energy are ubiquitous:
Entering the gate of the park, what catches the eye is a beautiful charging carport. Yes, you heard it right. It's a charging shed that can charge electric vehicles; The difference between it and a regular carport is that its ceiling is covered with photovoltaic panels, and inside the carport, there are charging stations. The workers in the park drive their electric cars over in the morning, park their cars in this charging shed, plug in the charging wires, and at night they can go home fully charged.
Climbing onto the roof of the park, one can see buildings of all sizes covered in photovoltaic panels and wind turbines, fully utilizing solar and wind energy to generate electricity.
In slightly more remote areas of the park, energy storage "big boxes", cooling towers, and gas internal combustion engines are installed.
Of course, there are still some equipment in the entire park that are "hidden" and silently contribute to the energy conservation, consumption reduction, and intelligent operation of the park!
According to Mao Xiaolei, Deputy Chief Engineer of China Electric Power Zhongdian Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., Beike Industrial Park was built in 2004, covering an area of 70 acres and a total construction area of 63152 square meters; At present, a total of 14 enterprises have settled in the park, with a high concentration of companies in the biopharmaceutical industry. In 2017, the electricity consumption of the park was 13 million kWh, and in 2018, the electricity consumption increased to 16 million kWh. The capacity and reliability of the park's energy system are no longer able to meet the needs of the park's enterprises, which has constrained the park's investment attraction. In August 2018, China Electric Power Zhongdian Smart and Beike Yongfeng Technology Development Co., Ltd. signed an energy management agreement to provide a package of smart energy solutions for Beike Industrial Park. Through multi energy complementarity and integrated optimization, the park will provide comprehensive energy services including electricity, heat, and cooling.
After taking over the energy management of the park, China Electric Power Zhongdian Smart has tailored a smart energy solution for the park from the aspects of "source, grid, load, storage, and control":
Open source: By adding internal combustion engines, rooftop photovoltaics, and intelligent photovoltaic carports, an additional 1600kW of power load has been added to the park; By combining cooling, heating, and power with existing equipment, we provide comprehensive energy supply for the park, achieving multi energy complementarity.
Departmental network: Connecting the original scattered cooling and heating systems separately, planning them uniformly, and using them as backups for each other, greatly improving the reliability of energy supply in the park; Add one 1250KVA transformer to evenly distribute the load carried by each section of the busbar; Deploy an electric energy monitoring system.
Load increase: Meet the expansion needs of the computer center while providing stable two-way power supply for it; Design user side management functions to achieve intelligent control.
Expansion of storage: Build a new 100kW/500kWh lithium iron phosphate battery to achieve peak shaving and valley filling, and improve power quality.
Intelligent Control: Implement intelligent transformation, break through information barriers, and achieve real-time monitoring and intelligent control of electricity, cooling, and heating sources; Deploy the multi energy flow energy management system jointly developed by China Electric Power Zhongdian Intelligent and Tsinghua University to comprehensively optimize and dispatch various equipment and energy sources in the park.
Through a series of renovations, the park has achieved multi energy coupling of cold heat electricity gas, and perfect coordination of source grid load storage. People are able to manage energy in a more refined and dynamic way, thus helping energy to always be in a "smart" state. Through deployment, the energy utilization rate of the park has been improved, easily saving nearly 30% of energy; Since the project was put into operation, a total of approximately 1136 tons of carbon emissions have been reduced, 451 tons of standard coal have been saved, and approximately 60000 equivalent trees have been planted.
Intelligent energy has extraordinary value
Today, responding to global energy challenges and leading energy development with intelligence is becoming a global consensus, and "smart energy" with new technologies, models, and formats as its core is the practical solution for the current energy revolution.

Building a smart energy information system to ensure national energy security
In order to implement the overarching policies of the Party and state leaders in energy utilization, State Power Investment Corporation has established a smart energy platform company: China Energy Integration Smart Technology Co., Ltd; And through this company, it takes the lead in building a national smart energy information platform to provide Chinese wisdom and solutions for promoting the deep integration of energy with the Internet, big data and artificial intelligence.
This platform is known as the "National Energy Brain", which gathers energy data from various aspects such as hydropower, wind power, photovoltaics, and nuclear power across the country.
